Herban Fix vegan open

Herban Fix is open in the long-shuttered Dogwood Restaurant space on Peachtree Street, across from Emory University Hospital Midtown. The Asian fusion vegan and vegetarian concept from Atlanta chef Wendy Chang is billed as "a healthy food option." Chang's resume includes stints at Tamarind Thai in Midtown Atlanta and Eurasia Bistro in Decatur. King of Pops Bar open

King of Pops Bar & Good Grub is open in the Central Food Hall at Ponce City Market. It's the first brick-and-mortar location for the frozen pops cart company. In addition to pops, it features a bar with a hand-squeezed, fresh daily punch, which can be spiked with a variety of spirits, plus local beer, canned wine and cocktails based on pop flavors. Café Highlands opening

Chef Stephen McGuffin is set to open Café Highlands in the Poncey-Highland space that formerly housed Café 640, which closed on Nov. 1. McGuffin was most recently the executive chef at Café 640, and the executive chef at Parker's on Ponce in Decatur before that. Look for lunch, dinner and brunch service with dishes such as oxtail gravy poutine and seared catfish with grit cake, rock shrimp and smoked tomato sauce. Mezza closing Dec. 31

Mezza in Oak Grove will close Dec. 31. The family-owned and -operated Lebanese small plates restaurant was greeted with critical accolades after it opened in 2001. Then-AJC critic John Kessler awarded it two stars and added it to his "Critics Choice Top 50" in 2004, calling it "a real charmer." More recently, the restaurant was consolidated into a smaller storefront space in the Oak Grove shopping center area that's also home to Oak Grove Market and Taqueria El Vecino. 2751 Lavista Road, Decatur. 404-633-8833, mezzabistro.com.
