Marcel opens in former Abattoir space
On Monday, Atlanta chef/restaurateur Ford Fry (JCT Kitchen, No. 246, the Optimist, King + Duke, St. Cecilia, the El Felix, Superica) opened his newest restaurant, Marcel, in the former Abattoir space in the Westside Provisions District. The upscale, old-school, French-style steakhouse serves lunch and dinner, plus late nights on Fridays and Saturdays. Besides a range of wood-grilled, pan-finished steaks, executive chef Brian Horn's menu includes cold seafood platters, hors d'oeuvres, salads, "classique" entrees and sides for the table. Best, Smith announce KSM partners
Still keeping the name, concept and other details under wraps, Greg Best and Regan Smith have announced three new partners, David Bies, Bart Sasso and Paul Calvert, to complete the team for their much anticipated Krog Street Market restaurant and bar, slated to open in the fall. Best and Smith are well known as the former beverage and front of house team behind Holeman & Finch Public House. Bies was chef de cuisine at Restaurant Eugene. Sasso has served as creative director at Resurgens Hospitality Group. Cape Dutch to replace Woodfire Grill
According to Tomorrow's News Today, Justin Anthony of 10 Degrees South, Yebo and the upcoming Biltong Bar at Ponce City Market has signed a lease on the Cheshire Bridge Road space that was the longtime home of Woodfire Grill, which closed in May. Dubbed Cape Dutch, the new restaurant will feature South African-style seafood and steaks and should open by the end of the year. 10degreessouth.com.
Attack of the Killer Tomato Festival
The seventh annual Attack of the Killer Tomato Festival at JCT Kitchen & Bar returns to the Westside Provisions District from 1-5 p.m. July 19. Enjoy tomato-based treats from dozens of chefs and mixologists and music from Ill Communication and Five Bone Rack, an all-chef band.
