Sean Hannity celebrated the 15th anniversary of the Fox News Channel and his own Fox show this week in Atlanta.
His television show aired live from Centennial Olympic Park Thursday night, and featured local guests including comic Jeff Foxworthy and presidential hopeful Newt Gingrich. Thursday afternoon, his radio show aired from the WSB 750 AM/95.5 FM. Before taking to the airways he indulged in his favorite Atlanta delicacy: a Varsity chili dog with onion rings. He had a more upscale dinner planned for later at Ruth's Chris Steak House.
"All the way down here I'm thinking, food, food, food!" he told us during a quick interview right after he taped a segment with Sarah Palin.
Hannity worked in Atlanta years ago, and has fond memories of former mayors Andy Young and Maynard Jackson, along with activist Hosea Williams and legendary AJC columnist Lewis Grizzard.
“When I first came on the air, Maynard Jackson called the show welcoming me to town,” Hannity said.
The late Williams used to press Hannity into service when his annual Thanksgiving food drive rolled around. Hannity, who was then airing on WSGT 640 AM, was always happy to spread the word on the radio.
“He’d say, no, you have to come down here!” Hannity recalled his friend saying. “I loved him. We had some of the best conversations.”
Hannity lived in Roswell at the time and said he'd had one of the last, if not the last, radio interview with the late Grizzard.
“Four of the greatest years of my life,” Hannity recalled of his time here. “I can’t believe it’s been 15 years!”

We hear he put in an appearance Wednesday night at the National Black MBA Association's party at the 200 Peachtree building, and tipsters also report spotting him shopping at The Container Store in Buckhead and at the Whole Foods on Briarcliff Road...Goldie Hawn and her daughter Kate Hudson had brunch at R. Thomas on Sunday. Hudson has been here filming "The Reluctant Fundamentalist" with Kiefer Sutherland and Liev Schreiber. Wonder if she and mom will go back this Sunday?
