An episode of “Private Practice” directed by Atlanta’s Kenny Leon will air Thursday nigh at 10 on ABC.
The hour-long drama is titled “’Til Death Do Us Part,” a reference to the character Naomi refusing to take part in plans for Maya’s wedding as she works with Addison and Pete to save the life of a 25-week-old premature baby.
Director Leon recently received a photo album from his stint on set from the “Private Practice” crew. The cover was inscribed “Put a little mayo on it” -- a phrase the True Colors Theatre Company artistic director regularly uses to coax richer performances out of actors. Apparently, that played very well in L.A.
A Leon-directed episode of "Ghost Whisperer" also recently aired. But while beginning to work in episodic TV, he's been as busy as ever in theater. He's directing a multi-racial interpretation of Thornton Wilder's "Our Town" that opens at Southwest Arts Center on Feb. 25 (previews start Feb. 21). And soon after it opens, he's off to New York, where he'll direct Denzel Washington in August Wilson's "Fences," which begins previews at Broadway's Cort Theatre on April 14.
