Justin Timberlake will be in Atlanta soon, to work on the Clint Eastwood film "Trouble With the Curve." In the baseball-themed movie, Eastwood plays an aging baseball scout looking to mend fences with his daughter, played by Amy Adams, while he casts for new talent. Entertainment publications including Variety and Deadline are reporting that Timberlake will play a rival scout with an eye for Adams, too. While he's famous for bringing sexy back, the pop artist is quite a good actor as well. He has said taking on his role as Napster founder Sean Parker in the movie "The Social Network" was a daunting challenge, but his performance was much acclaimed. We'll let you know when he's spotted here.

Buzz in our ear

John Travolta is making the rounds and making new friends in Clayton, up in Rabun County, where he is filming scenes for a movie called "Killing Season." We're told he's been spotted all around the mountain town, dining out at spots including La Cabana and chatting up the locals. His co-star Robert De Niro? Not so much. Word is he is keeping to himself for now.

Spanx' new spokeswoman

Is there anything not to love about Golden Globe winner and Oscar nominee Octavia Spencer? The actress who played Minny Jackson in "The Help," based on Atlanta author Kathryn Stockett's book, gave a nice shout-out to an Atlanta-based undergarment empire during an appearance on Ellen DeGeneres' talk show this week.

“I triple-Spanx,” Spencer quipped. “Which is not good. Spanx really, really work but you don’t need to overdo it.”

In fact, while Sara Blakely's support gear did its job, the multiple layers cut into Spencer's fun the night of the Golden Globes.

"I could not party that night because I was being pinched in places I didn't know was possible," Spencer said. "I ran into Melissa McCarthy who is in 'Bridesmaids' and brilliant, one of my closest friends. I said, 'Oh my God Melissa, I'm about to die. My Spanx are killing me.' She said, 'I just went to the bathroom and took mine off.'"

In case you've ever wondered what the stars whisper to each other on the red carpet...

Reality show looks for Atlanta cooks

So you think you can cook? Bravo is lining up contenders for the 10th season of "Top Chef," the reality show that made small-screen stars of local chefs Kevin Gillespie and Richard Blais, and will be coming here soon. "We want talented, experienced chefs with that flare and hunger that puts you over the top," the casting call reads. (Tattoo sleeves evidently not required.)
