You don’t have to have a big reason to celebrate the upcoming weekend. You survived the work week. That’s more than enough.
And, with Juneteenth and Father’s Day occuring this weekend, there are plenty of things to do around metro Atlanta. Here are our top five picks:
Juneteenth Atlanta Parade & Music Festival
Celebrate Juneteenth, the annual celebration of the emancipation of slaves in the United States, this month with a parade and music festival at Morris Brown College. The three-day event will celebrate African-American history will panels, arts and crafts, live entertainment, multi-cultural cuisine and more.

Juneteenth at Atlanta History Center
Admission to the Atlanta History Center will be free on June 18 and 19, allowing museum attendees to celebrate Juneteenth. On Saturday, the Atlanta History Center will host a talk with the authors of “We Are Charleston” about the 2015 church shooting in South Carolina. On both Saturday and Sunday, attendees will hear from food writer and culinary historian Michael W. Twitty about the history of African American cuisine.

Celebrate Father’s Day
Don’t stick to your usual Father’s Day gift this year. Get out and explore the city with your dad and the rest of your family.
Whether you're following AJC reporter Jill Vejnoska's ultimate itinerary for metro Atlanta dads, treating your dad to something free or taking Dad somewhere for both food and fun, you'll have plenty of options this Father's Day weekend.
The 6th annual Atlanta Summer Beer Fest will take place in the Historic 4thWard Park on June 18. More than 200 beers, ciders and "a small selection of wine" will be available to attendees, according to a press release.
The five-hour event is presented by Atlanta Beer Festivals, the organization responsible for festivals such as the Atlanta Brunch Fest.

Glass installations from Seattle artist Dale Chihuly will return to the Atlanta Botanical Garden for an encore presentation at the end of April.
“Chihuly in the Garden” will feature 20 installations, composed of hundreds of pieces of colorful glass. Three installations were created specifically for the Atlanta exhibit.
