From a new musical that is premiering at the Alliance Theatre to a Seal concert, here are our five picks for things to do in Atlanta this weekend:
When an Indiana school cancels prom so that a student can’t attend with her girlfriend, a group of Broadway actors attempt to get involved. The new musical opens at Alliance Theatre on Aug. 18 and runs through Sept. 25.

Go to a concert
There are plenty of opportunities to listen to great music this Saturday.
Rising pop singer Tori Kelly will entertain baseball fans with a concert at Turner Field following the Braves’ game against the Washington Nationals.
Adult contemporary singer Seal will bring popular songs such as “Kiss From A Rose” to Chastain Park Amphitheatre on Saturday, too.
Education and entertainment will merge as attendees get to listen to international music and have hands-on experiences with artists during the Center for Civil and Human Rights Museum’s World Music Day festival. Various musicians will perform at the museum throughout the day, beginning at noon. Japanese percussionists Atlanta Taiko Project will headline the festival at 6 p.m.

Bronner Bros. International Beauty Show
About 30,000 beauty professionals and students are expected to visit the Georgia World Congress Center when The Bronner Bros. International Beauty Show visits the convention center during the three-day tradeshow. Participate in educational courses and workshops, witness competitions or browse the show floor for the newest beauty products.

Atlanta Underground Film Festival
The 13th annual Atlanta Underground Film Festival will be held at the Synchronicity Theatre and the Eyedrum Gallery this weekend. About 70 independent films are featured in this year's lineup, including dramas and documentaries.
The festival kicks off on Friday, Aug. 19 at 12:30 p.m. with a screening of “Missing Mom,” a documentary that follows a filmmaker and his brother, a police officer, in hopes of finding their mom, who went missing nearly 25 years ago.

Watch “Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory”
“Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory” was released 45 years ago, but the film still manages to be a favorite for many families. The movie is screening at the Fox Theatre at 7:30 p.m. this Saturday as a part of the venue’s “Coca-Cola Summer Film Festival.”
