Will Hot 107.9 DJ Beestroh's arrest cost him his radio job?

DJ Beestroh of Hot 107.9 was arrested and charged with aggravated assault outside the Velvet Room early Monday morning. Cops shot him in the leg as well.

For now, Hot isn't making any decisions related to his employment as management awaits a fuller account of what happened.

Beestroh, whose real name is Rick Robinson, is heard on weekends and does some club mix shows for the station.

Beestroh was DJing a listening party hosted by Diddy for Rick Ross' new album release.

About 4 a.m., two off-duty officers working at the nightclub heard gunshots in the back of the club, according to DeKalb Public Safety Director Cedric Alexander.

When the officers responded to the rear of the club, “one subject turned toward them, firing shots,” Alexander said. “They returned fire, hitting the subject in the leg.”

Beestroh ran back into the club, where he was arrested.

He went to Grady Memorial Hospital for treatment and was still there as of Tuesday.

UPDATE: On Thursday, according to my colleague Rodney Thrash, has been booked in DeKalb jail, once he left the hospital.

UPDATE: Sandra Rose, without citing sources, said Beestroh was having an argument with another man over a woman.

UPDATE: As of 4/7/14, he was still on the Hot 107.9 DJ list.

He was scheduled to be in court Friday morning.

His last Twitter feed was early Monday morning before the shooting:

He recently did a set of "15 Seconds of Black History" videos including this one:

As a DJ, Radio Personality, Event Host, Actor, Voice Over Talent and Writer, the Holyoke, MA native makes it difficult for anyone attempting to out-hustle him. As a teenager he ran the city streets, but was always keenly aware of his passion for music and a larger life purpose. A founding member of a Hip-Hop trio called Dotcom, the two man, one woman group were close to inking a major label record deal when the group disbanded due to internal conflicts. Disappointed but not deterred, Beestroh decided to take his talents south and accepted an internship with urban radio station Hot 107.9 in Atlanta. It is a testament to his character having humbled himself to start from the bottom and work his way up knowing that his career experience far exceeded his title. But as in most success stories Beestroh turned an obstacle into an opportunity, becoming a hot commodity in the entertainment sector. Beestroh swiftly rose to the top of the radio ranks due to his intrinsic ability to effectively and efficiently learn every job at the station, thus becoming an invaluable team player. As a result of his diligence and undeniable skill set, Beestroh became one of the most in-demand personalities in the city earning the name "the voice of the streets." He brings passion, wit, knowledge and energy to each interview he conducts and every stage he steps foot on, which is why he has worked with world-renowned luminaries such as Drake, Puffy, Chris Brown, the Game, Nas and Brandy.
