DJ Beestroh of Hot 107.9 was arrested and charged with aggravated assault outside the Velvet Room early Monday morning. Cops shot him in the leg as well.
For now, Hot isn't making any decisions related to his employment as management awaits a fuller account of what happened.
Beestroh, whose real name is Rick Robinson, is heard on weekends and does some club mix shows for the station.
Beestroh was DJing a listening party hosted by Diddy for Rick Ross' new album release.
About 4 a.m., two off-duty officers working at the nightclub heard gunshots in the back of the club, according to DeKalb Public Safety Director Cedric Alexander.
When the officers responded to the rear of the club, “one subject turned toward them, firing shots,” Alexander said. “They returned fire, hitting the subject in the leg.”
Beestroh ran back into the club, where he was arrested.
He went to Grady Memorial Hospital for treatment and was still there as of Tuesday.
UPDATE: As of 4/7/14, he was still on the Hot 107.9 DJ list.
He was scheduled to be in court Friday morning.
