Porsha Williams, now a recurring character on "Real Housewives of Atlanta," was caught speeding on a suspended license today and arrested, according to TMZ.

The website didn't say where she was caught speeding but it said she was going 78 MPH in a 55 zone. That normally would have resulted in just a ticket but she had a suspended driver's license, which led to her arrest.

People can have their license suspended for a variety of reasons but usually too many points from accidents and traffic violations in a certain period of time.

We are trying to procure the arrest record but I have not been able to confirm which county the arrest happened in.

UPDATE  on December 30, 2014 at 4:52 p.m.: On Tuesday, Porsha released a statement explaining why she was speeding but failed to say why she had a suspended license which led to the arrest (as opposed to merely a ticket.)

I was headed to visit my grandfather who is very ill with cancer in the hospital, and I was pulled over. I was wrong for speeding absolutely and apologize for putting anyone at risk. I tried to explain the situation to the officer and show him that all my paperwork was in order, but he refused. Handcuffs are not comfortable or a good look for anyone. I was released, I have my license, my car, and my freedom.

Williams was arrested and released in April for attacking Kenya Moore during a reunion taping of "Real Housewives of Atlanta." She has since been demoted from full-time housewives status to "part time" recurring status. Andy Cohen, who oversees "Housewives" for Bravo, said she simply didn't have as compelling enough story lines this season.
