Successful reality shows spawn two different types of spinoffs: new casts in another city or shows focused specifically on the most popular characters from said show.
"Love and Hip Hop" out of New York has spawned Hollywood and Atlanta editions. And now Atlanta's most notorious couple Joseline Hernandez and Stevie J from "Love and Hip Hop Atlanta" have been rewarded their own half-hour spin-off show. The premise: Stevie J has so much work going on in Hollywood, he transplants himself temporarily over there to work with Diddy and a new film.
For a time, he left Joseline behind in Atlanta but for the spinoff to work, she has to come to Los Angeles too. In the first episode, she takes acting lessons and then acts uber jealous (as usual) when a super confident Stevie J holds a party celebrating his arrival and many nubile young women in bathing suits are hanging out by the pool as eye candy.
FreddyO, the local celebrity photographer, invited me to a Sunday night screening party at the Twelve Hotel for Stevie J and Joseline. "Love and Hip Hop Atlanta" cast mates Rasheeda and Kirk Frost showed up, along with Stevie J's baby mama Mimi Faust. Recurring character Deb Antney showed up as well, along with Kandi Burruss' manager DonJuan, who is cool with Stevie J. Kelly Price was there, too.
During the Q&A, Stevie J didn't reveal much new. He demurred on having more kids but did more or less confirm the recent incident where Joseline allegedly bleached some of his favorite pieces of clothing in anger. He said he is clean and sober as well.
