Scotty K and Riley Couture taking over Power 96.1 morning host job March 17

booted from top 40 station Power 96.1, the big question was what were they going to fill in his place? Another syndicated show? A personality-based local morning team?  Or a single person who will host a more-music mornings?

Early signs showed it would be more music with a single jock from Chicago: night jock Special K, who will go by Scotty K in Atlanta.

UPDATE: March 10, 2014: It appears they may have some "personality" elements after all. Clear Channel has hired a female cohost with Scotty Kay: Riley Couture. (Yah... That really sounds like a radio name, eh? Her real name: Raquel Segarra). She's coming from Nashville. This hire is probably also why his start date has been pushed back. UPDATE: March 14, 2014: They now have their page up on the Power 96.1 website but they clearly have not had time to pose together for a photo.

UPDATE March 16, 2014: His name was modified to Scotty K instead of Scotty Kay.

Scotty Kay was last at top 40 station WKSC-FM/103.5 Kiss FM in Chicago until he was (budget) cut last summer. Rick Vaughn, who had been PD at Chicago's Kiss station and was running Power, gave him some fill-in work at Power since then.

I am not sure when Kay is starting.  If anything, he will be live and local. All signs point to a low-key morning show filled with music though I have not heard from Dan Hunt, the new program director, who could provide details.

According to the Chicagoradioandmedia.com blog, the Chicago native was very popular in his hometown. (He has 44,000 Twitter followers.)

Duran was taken off the air last week with no fanfare. He had been with the station since it started in September, 2012. His ratings generally lagged behind the rest of the station. Then again, the station has focused more on its music than its personalities in its marketing.
