Kiss 104.1 afternoon radio personality Sasha the Diva is also a businesswoman off air. Her latest venture: opening a make-your-own-painting studio in East Atlanta called Paint Sip Socialize.

Last year, she attended a similar place in the Toco Hills area and was inspired. “I looked around the room and thought, ‘I could do this!’ “ she said in a recent interview. “It’s entertaining and it’s in the arts. I had never painted before and it was a great experience.”

She opened her studio in East Atlanta in March. She liked the location and the fact parking was free. So far, she said business is building steadily.

Sasha has done radio and Facebook advertising to get the word out.

The concept is similar to paint-your-own-pottery studios that still dot the metro area. But she tries to make it more like a party atmosphere with music and bring-your-own-drinks. She held Prince-oriented theme parties this past weekend and will hold focus on father-son gatherings this weekend.

The place is open on the weekends for all takers and holds special events. She said she has 10 corporate events already on the calendar. She also has a mobile unit so she can take the artists and supplies on the road with a 15-person minimum. “We bring the canvas already pre-sketched,” she said. :”We bring the easels, the paints and the brushes as well as our smocks and artists. We instruct you.”

A two-hour class is $35, a three-hour class is $45.

Sasha, who lives in Henry County, is a silent investor in several other businesses such as a salon and restaurants but this is the only one she is actively publicizing.

Kiss 104.1 and The Atlanta Journal-Constitution are both part of Cox Media Group.
