Photos from BMI R&B & Hip Hop Awards: Toni Braxton, Cee Lo Green, Kandi Burruss, Chris Tucker

I don't do a lot of red carpets. They tend to be a feeding frenzy of flashing bulbs and you might get a minute or two tops with celebrities. It's not exactly a great place for substantial interviews or even news. (I did manage to get some fresh info from Yolanda Adams that I posted a couple days ago.). This leaves photographs and some video. I took a few photos and did a couple of FB Live interviews at the BMI R&B and Hip Hop Awards last Thursday at Atlanta Symphony Hall. BMI honored R&B legend and former Atlantan Toni Braxton.

Here are photos I took of some of the celebrities that made it on the red carpet:

Chris Tucker was the host for the event. CREDIT: Rodney Ho/
Hairdresser extraordinaire Derek J, most recently a host of Bravo's "Fashion Queens,' said he's taking a break from TV for now. And he has no plans to be on RHOA this season. CREDIT: Rodney Ho/

Frank Ski has adjusted to life doing weekends on V-103, hosting parties three nights a week and doing CBS46 "Just a Minute" commentaries. CREDIT: Rodney Ho/
Kandi Burruss was the only RHOA member who showed up on the red carpet. Obviously, she is friends with all the Braxtons going back to her time with Xscape. CREDIT: Rodney Ho/
Keke Wyatt (formerly of R&B Divas Atlanta) and her husband Michael Ford will be on the upcoming season of WE-TV's "Marriage Boot Camp: Reality Stars." CREDIT: Rodney Ho/

When I did a brief FB Live with Stevie J, he took exception when I merely identified him as a star on "Love and Hip Hop Atlanta." He wanted to remind me he is a successful music producer, don't you forget that. He also said another spin-off show is forthcoming on VH1 for him.
