OWN has given church drama "Greenleaf," which is shot in Atlanta, a third season.

Rick Fox, who plays journalist Darius Nash and love interest to Gigi (Merle Dandridge), will return as a series regular.

The second half of season two will return with a two-night premiere on Tuesday, August 15 and Wednesday, August 16 at 10 p.m. and will regularly air Wednesday nights at 10 p.m.

“We can’t wait to see what another season of ‘Greenleaf’ will bring,” said Erik Logan, President, OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network, in a press release  “This series was instrumental in evolving OWN’s scripted programming and it continues to pull in viewers each week with its unique storytelling and characters.”

The shows' home base is Eagle Rock Studios in Norcross.

Year to date, “Greenleaf” is the fifth most popular original scripted series among women 25 to 54 on ad-supported cable. Overall, it's averaging 2 million viewers over three days of live and DVR viewing.

In the past month OWN has inked high-profile deals for scripted content from red-hot producers Mara Brock Akil and Salim Akil, Ava DuVernay and Atlanta's Will Packer. OWN's investment in scripted series is growing rapidly as the cabler demonstrates its ability to draw a crowd with what OWN president Erik Logan calls "elevated scripted programming" for African-American women.
