Kristin Klingshirn of the Bert Show got married today in Lexington, Ky. to her long-time boyfriend Bart Mattingly.

Bert Weiss, in a text, called it the best wedding he's ever been to. "She surrounds herself with truly authentic people," he wrote. "So it was such a huge loving party."

The couple were together nearly a decade before Bart proposed last year. For many years, they were content just being together without the official papers but once they decided they wanted kids, the choice to get married became clearer.

“He has been my biggest cheerleader and supporter… He’s always had my back… I’m where I am because of him,” she said on air last year after the engagement. “We didn’t need an engagement or marriage to prove that. But this past year, the conversations we’ve had about having a family and our future, I honestly never thought I’d feel this way about being engaged. I didn’t think it was a big deal… It feels pretty damn good.”

The couple, in lieu of traditional wedding gifts, opened a registry last year for Bert Weiss' charity Bert's Big Adventure. Thousands of toys flooded their home. They had so many gifts, they ended up with extras for future Bert's Big Adventure participants. Bert's charity gives chronically or terminally ill children a trip of a lifetime to Walt Disney World and provides additional services other parts of the year.

Klingshirn joined the show in 2011 after Melissa Carter departed and has been an integral part of the operation ever since. The Bert Show is heard locally in Atlanta but syndicated in more than 15 markets.

This is her first marriage.
