Jarard J said he was laid off as evening host at Majic 107.5/97.5 Tuesday.

“Yes, these are very inconvenient times,” he wrote in a text to me, “but all storms are temporary. And the sunshine after the storm is always beautiful and strong.”

Jarard, whose full name is Jarard Johnson, has been with the R&B station since late 2018.

Before that, he was part of the  V-103 morning show with his mentor Ryan Cameron, who has also since migrated to Majic as an afternoon host. Jarard, for a time, also worked weekends with V-103 before joining Majic.
He still has a full-time job as a finance director at a Mercedes Benz dealership in Marietta.

Tim Davies, Urban One regional vice president who oversees Majic, declined to comment.

Many media companies have seen a major drop in advertising revenue over the past month since the coronavirus pandemic enveloped the nation.

Lance Venta, owner and publisher of RadioInsight, said in an interview that hundreds of radio employees have been furloughed or laid off in recent weeks by companies such as iHeartMedia and Entercom. He said so far, he has not heard of any cutbacks at Atlanta-based Cox Media Group or Atlanta-based Cumulus Media.
