Dolvett Quince went from Justin Bieber and Bert Weiss' workout trainer in Atlanta to an international star thanks in part to his exposure on "The Biggest Loser" starting in 2011.

Now residing in Los Angeles, he is doing Trop 50 commercials with "30 Rock" actress Jane Krakowski and able to cherry pick products he would like to endorse. He talked to me by phone about his new Brookstone massaging foam roller, which he recently launched at the Consumer Electronics Show in Vegas. (You can buy it here for $69.99.)

It focuses on what folks don't tend to do after exercise: recovery. "It's something people don't pay attention to but Brookstone does," he said. "I wanted to be the voice of the nation so to speak to educate them on the importance of recovery."

He notes that when you exercise, you tear and rip muscles. They need time to heal and grow. The foam roller is supposed to help the muscles recover quicker and healthier. Without proper recovery, Quince said, "you get sore a lot easier. You stay sore a lot longer. It could interfere with sleep patterns. You can become mentally discouraged."

The foam roller adds a massage element. "It's double stimulation,' he said. "It's scientifically designed to give you the same stimulation as if someone was massaging you."

He said you only need to use it for a few minutes per day, a minute per muscle group.

Quince also is a big advocate of veggies,  the greener the better. "The higher the fiber, the better for your body," he said. "Green beans, kale, spinach, collards."

He tries to include something green every meal.

Quince admits to a sweet tooth. He will indulge every few days and it would a carrot cake or something like that, nothing processed.

One thing that Los Angeles has over Atlanta: it's easier for him to eat healthy. It's harder to find smoothies or quinoa here. Healthy breakfasts are especially a challenge, he said. (That's really near the hotels he's staying at. We now have Sprouts and Earth Fare, on top of Trader Joe's and Whole Foods.)

What he misses the most about Atlanta: "It's the genuine people, authentic friends without an agenda," he said. "They don't have expectations. What they ask is what they're willing to give. Never one sided. I miss that."

You'll be able to see Quince not just on "The Biggest Loser" season finale tonight (and presumably he'll be back next season) but he also co-hosted the Trumpet Awards (pre-taped January 24 in Atlanta) for airing on TV One Feb. 21.
