What still constitutes the "regular" broadcast season is over. It's an antiquated concept because summer brings just as much programming as any other time of year.
Broadcast carts out some aging reality shows such as Fox's "So You Think You Can Dance" (a youth edition) on Monday and NBC's "America's Got Talent" Tuesday with Simon Cowell taking over for Howard Stern as a judge. NBC's "American Ninja Warrior" is back Wednesday (shooting one of the early audition episodes at the Ted), along with Fox's "MasterChef."
On the scripted side, MTV returns with "Scream" Monday, Netflix debuts the third season of "Peaky Blinders" Tuesday and NBC brings back "The Night Shift" Wednesday.
History, with help from A&E and Lifetime, is airing an expensive reboot of the seminal 1977 series "Roots" Monday through Thursday.
PlayStation introduces a second season of "Powers," shot in Atlanta.
And Miss USA, now no longer owned by Donald Trump, airs Sunday on Fox.

MONDAY
"The Bachelorette" 8 p.m. ABC — JoJo takes 10 lucky men to a firefighter training facility where they undergo boot camp-like challenges.
"So You Think You Can Dance: The Next Generation" 8 p.m. Fox (13th season debut) — This year focuses on dancers between the ages of 8 and 13. Teen dancer Maddie Ziegler joins the panel of judges.
"The Dresser" 9 p.m. Starz — During World War II, the backstage hand of a touring Shakespearean theatre company struggles to support the brilliant but tyrannical head of the company.
"The Detour" 9:30 p.m. TBS (first season finale) — An epic whistle-blowing attempt unfolds when the Parkers try to take down Nate's company
"Roots" 9 p.m. History, A&E, Lifetime — A reboot of the original ABC miniseries from 1977 using modern production values and improved historical accuracy.
"Person of Interest" 9:59 p.m. CBS — The criminal mastermind known as "The Voice" traps Reese and Fusco in the precinct with armed gang members and the latest POI. In other events, Root makes a shocking discovery
"Scream" 11 p.m. MTV (second season debut) — Emma hopes she can move on with her life after returning to Lakewood, but she's soon haunted by a dream. In other events, an unknown someone threatens to expose Audrey's connection to Piper.
TUESDAY
"Peaky Blinders" 3:01 a.m. Netflix (third season debut) — In the electrifying third season of Steven Knight's family saga, Thomas Shelby (Cillian Murphy) is drawn into a maze of global intrigue
" Powers" 3:01 a.m. PlayStation (second season debut) — Season 2 features a stellar cast, starring Sharlto Copley (District 9) as Detective Christian Walker and Susan Heyward (Vinyl) as Detective Deena Pilgrim.
" America's Got Talent" 8 p.m. NBC (11th season debut) — Simon Cowell replaces Howard Stern as a judge.
" Hotel Hell" 8 p.m. Fox — Gordon visits a Massachusetts inn that was modeled after an Austrian bed and breakfast but suffers from unfavorable rumors and outdated practices.
" Roots" 9 p.m. History, A&E, Lifetime — Kunta meets British soldiers who convince him to escape, but he soon finds they are no better than his American slave family and attempts to run away.
" Maya and Marty in Manhattan" 9 p.m. NBC (new series) — Comedy sketches, music performances and celebrity guests are featured in this variety series starring Maya Rudolph and Martin Short.
" Person of Interest" 10 p.m. CBS (100th episode) — Finch's number comes up after a fatal error blows his cover identity, which ignites a series of encounters with Samaritan's operatives.
WEDNESDAY
"500 Questions" 8 p.m. ABC (second season finale) — And just like that, it's over.
"American Ninja Warrior " 8 p.m. NBC (eight season debut) — This season features four new obstacles, including the Floating Steps, Tic Toc, Escalator and Ring Jump.
"IHeartRadio Summer Pool Party " 8 p.m. the CW — Nick Jonas; Chris Brown; Kelly Clarkson; Nicki Minaj; Shaggy; and Echosmith.
"Masterchef " 8 p.m. Fox (seventh season debut) — Forty chefs present their signature dishes to the judges for a chance to compete for a cookbook deal and a $250,000 grand prize.
"Young & Hungry " 9 p.m. Freeform (second season debut) — Gabi joins a fellow broken heart on his honeymoon in Hawaii after his bride-to-be left him at the altar, and the pair post pictures of their getaway on social media in hopes of making Josh and the guy's ex jealous.
"Brother vs. Brother " 9 p.m. HGTV (fourth season debut) — Vanilla Ice determines whether it's Jonathan or Drew who did the best job making over living and dining rooms.
"The Americans " 10 p.m. FX — Paige sees her mother in a new light and Oleg reaches a breaking point with Stan.
"Lopez " 10 p.m. TVLand — George becomes frustrated with community troubles at his Las Vegas and San Fernando properties.
"The Night Shift " 10 p.m. NBC (third season debut) — The overnight crew becomes immersed in a bizarre car-accident rescue.
" Roy al Pains " 10 p.m. USA — Hank finds romance while in Hong Kong trying to prevent the theft of Boris' medical records.
THURSDAY
"Bones" 8 p.m. Fox — As part of a promotion for the Jeffersonian's Medico-Legal lab.
"Strong" 9 p.m. NBC (first season finale) — The two remaining teams are pushed to their limits during the three rigorous stages of the finals.
" Beauty and the Beast" 9 p.m. the CW (fourth season debut) — Vincent and Cat's wedded bliss is short-lived when J.T. brings them the news that someone is trying to expose the identities of beasts.
"Game of Silence" 9 p.m. NBC (back-to-back new episodes) — An attorney's finely tuned life turns staticky when old pals re-enter his life.
"Roots" 9 p.m. Lifetime, A&E, History (miniseries finale) — Chicken George fights for the Union. T.I. plays Cyrus.
" Archer" 10 p.m. FX (seventh season finale) — In the seventh season finale, someone is killed on the movie set.
" Orphan Black" 10 p.m. BBCA — Donnie is having a tough time in prison, Rachel is experiencing hallucinations and Cosima may be on the verge of a breakthrough.
FRIDAY
"All in with Cam Newton" 8 p.m Nickelodeon (new series) — Carolina Panthers QB Cam Newton hosts a show where kids who want to fulfill dreams with mentors such as Tim Gunn and Dominique Dawes.
"Masters of Illusion" 8 p.m the CW — Magicians featured include Les Arnold and Dazzle, Chris Randall, Jason Bishop, Johnny Ace Palmer, Sittah and Greg Frewin.
"Marriage Boot Camp" 9 p.m WE (seventh season debut) — One celebrity enters boot camp alone and must go on a search for their partner. Later, the couples are surprised when Montel Williams arrives and begins revealing secrets.
"Wedding Bells " 9 p.m. Hallmark— A live competitive gaming tournament. "Counter-Strike: Global Offensive" will be the featured game for the inaugural contest.
"Outcast " 10 p.m. Cinemax (new series) — Series debut of a thriller about a young man who deals with demonic possession that has plagued him all his life. In the opener, while investigating another case of possession, secrets from his past come to the fore.
"Roots " 10 p.m. History — A fact-filled look at the real history of slavery, as revealed in "Roots." This documentary features leading historians unpacking the history behind Africa at the time.
WEEKEND
"Cops" 8 p.m. Saturday Spike (29th season debut) — A high-speed chase involving a motorcyclist; a lawbreaker who will say anything to not get caught; and a recent parolee are featured.
"You May Now Kill the Bride" 8 p.m. Saturday Lifetime — A recently-engaged woman discovers that her fiancé's stepsister is obsessed with him and will do anything to become his bride.
"Game of Thrones" 9 p.m. Sunday HBO — Jamie encounters a hero; the High Sparrow fixates on another prey; Arya hatches a new plan.
"House of Lies" 9 p.m. Sunday Showtime — Marty tries to get K&A back into consideration for a buyout.
"Game of Silence " 10 p.m. Sunday NBC (series finale) — The FBI pays a surprise visit to Carroll; Jessie and Gil come up with a plan to expose Carroll; and Marina holds a secret that could change Jackson's life forever.
"Penny Dreadful " 10 p.m. Sunday Showtime — Vanessa turns to old friend Ferdinand Lyle for help.
