Atlanta singer Jon Mero made it into Team Adam Levine's top three and the top 12 overall on "The Voice" after Tuesday night's episode.

Mero, who sings for a corporate cover band called Celebrity All-Star Band, performed his first real ballad to date, a 2006 pop-rock hit "When We Were Young" by the Killers. His professional background helped him connect with the audience.

He received compliments from the judges: "Your voice is like a laser," says Blake. " You're more than ready for this." Jennifer says, "You truly lived in your moment." Adam says, "You didn't dance today, you truly sang from your heart."

Adam chose him second out of three openings.

According to tracking after Tuesday's show, Mero's song didn't do as well as some other performers last night:

38. Addison Agen – Angel from Montgomery

99. Emily Luther – Lovesong

106. Adam Cunningham – Have a Little Faith in Me

110. Jon Mero – When We Were Young

Agen's performance was considered the best of the night in polls last night.
