Atlanta-based TV show productions ('Vampire Diaries,' 'Drop Dead Diva') take the day off (duh!)

The show can't always go on - when there's ice on the ground.

Most - if not all - Atlanta TV productions had to take the day off thanks to this epic ice/sleet/snow mess we're experiencing.

Scripted programs that have been referenced in the trades that are currently in production but had to stop today: the CW's "The Originals" and "Vampire Diaries," plus Lifetime's "Devious Maids" (Stone Mountain) and "Drop Dead Diva" (Peachtree City)."Drop Dead Diva" plans to take today and Thursday off, according to theWrap, while "Devious" is looking to only take today off. Sundance's 'Rectify," shooting season two, was also off, a Sundance spokeswoman confirmed.

AMC's upcoming series "Halt and Catch Fire" set in the tech world in the 1980s is off today, an AMC contact said.  ("The Walking Dead" is not in production and neither is VH1's "Single Ladies," both of which are now airing.)

Tyler Perry, with four shows in production for OWN at his own studio in Southwest Atlanta, is usually shooting something any given day but today is probably an exception. I'm awaiting word from OWN to confirm that. None of BET's shows shot here (e.g. "The Game," "Let's Stay Together," "Being Mary Jane") are currently in production.

A single day won't affect the shows in any tangible way though plans to do outdoor scenes might be limited this week. "Devious Maids" and "Drop Dead Diva," for instance, are both supposed to be set in Los Angeles so this vista of white stuff just wouldn't do.

I'm not sure how many reality shows are in production right now. Bravo confirmed that "The Real Housewives of Atlanta" has wrapped its sixth season, now airing. VH1's "Love & Hip Hop Atlanta" is currently shooting season three and is set to return on air in May, but I'm told by a source they are not doing anything today.
