"In Touch" magazine procured the first interview with Apollo Nida since he entered federal prison for an eight-year term for bank and ID theft.

The "Real Housewives of Atlanta" husband to Phaedra Parks told the magazine that he is now on speaking terms with his wife.

“Yes, we’ve had problems — especially over the last year — but we’ve gotten on terms now where I can call her and it’s cordial,” Apollo exclusively tells ‘In Touch,’ sharing that they speak frequently over the phone. “I’m hopeful that we can stick things out.”

He said Parks has not ruled out the possibility of bringing their two kids Ayden and Dylan up to Louisville, Ky. to visit him at some point in prison.

Parks last month told Ellen DeGeneres she plans to divorce Nida but has yet to file papers. (I am awaiting a response from Parks' spokesman Steve Honig, who told In Touch she still expects to divorce him.)

On the show's season 7 debut, Apollo told Phaedra on camera he wanted a divorce a couple of days after he was sentenced in July because he was angry she didn't show up at his hearing or even stay in the house that day. She hid out in a hotel in Augusta, fearful of paparazzi he said never showed up. She said he messed up her reputation and didn't deserve that type of support, which she believed wouldn't have helped him anyway.

Apollo during last week's episode admitted he had lied about Kenya Moore meeting up with him in Los Angeles and coming on to him. This Sunday's episode will feature castmate Kandi Burruss informing Phaedra of his lies.
