Steely Dan, The Doobie Brothers tour will play Atlanta in May

Steely Dan will return to the road for its first major tour since the September death of co-founder Walter Becker on a co-headline run with The Doobie Brothers.

"The Summer of Living Dangerously" tour will kick off May 10 in Charlotte and swing through Verizon Amphitheatre at 7:30 p.m. May 19. Tickets, priced from $25-$199.50, will go on sale to the general public at 10 a.m. Jan. 12 via www.livenation.com.

The tour will hit more than 30 cities, including Raleigh, N.C., Jacksonville, Fla., and Nashville.

Only keyboardist-singer Donald Fagen remains in the original incarnation of the band responsible for '70s-era gems "Hey Nineteen," "Deacon Blues" and "Peg. In a recent podcast on www.rollingstone.com, Fagen said that following the death of Becker, he wanted to change the name to Donald Fagen and the Steely Dan Band, but promoters balked at the suggestion.
