Days after the TV special "Shania: Still the One Live from Vegas," aired, reminding Shania Twain fans that she's been back to performing somewhere for a while, the country-pop singer has announced her first tour in more than 11 years.
“Rock This Country” will launch June 5 in Seattle and traverse North America for a 48-date run. The tour hits Philips Arena at 7:30 p.m. Aug. 1, with Gavin DeGraw (just seen opening for Billy Joel) in the intro slot.
Tickets for the Atlanta date are on sale at 10 a.m. March 13 at the arena box office, www.axs.com, www.ticketmaster.com, all Ticketmaster outlets or by calling 800-745-3000.
A fan club presale through www.shaniatwain.com begins at 10 a.m. March 10.
Tickets are $46-$136.
“This is a celebration tour. It’s party time! The 'Rock This Country' tour will have a different spirit than my past tours,” said Twain in a statement. “It’s a Shania they’ve never seen before. A lot of years have gone by and I’ve got a lot more to share.”
On Wednesday morning, Twain also told “Good Morning America's” Robin Roberts that this jaunt will mark an end to her touring.
"This is my last tour, so I'm going to make the most of it," Twain said. "I want to go out with a bang."
No word if the horse that was part of her two-year Las Vegas residency will be on tour.
Twain is one of the biggest-selling artists in country music. Her 1997 release “Come On Over” is the best-selling country album of all time and the best-selling album released by a female artist.
Additionally, three of her releases – “Come On Over,” “The Woman in Me” and “Up!” – reached Diamond certification (more than 10 million sold), making her the only artist with three consecutive albums reaching that status.
