Antonio “L.A.” Reid will be honored next week by the Rhythm & Soul division of The American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers for his deep influence on music in Atlanta.

Reid, who was involved in the careers of Usher, Outkast, TLC and Goodie Mob, will receive his accolades at the 3rd Annual Legends Dinner on Thursday at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Buckhead.

Usher is scheduled to host the invitation-only event along with Outkast’s Big Boi and music executive and producer Kawan “KP” Prather. Other guests expected to attend include Jermaine Dupri and Ne-Yo.

Reid, currently the chairman and CEO of Epic Records, was stationed in Atlanta in the ‘90s, after he and Kenneth “Babyface” Edmonds founded LaFace Records, the label that broke Usher, TLC, Outkast and Toni Braxton.

In 2000, LaFace merged with Arista Records, which Reid then led as president and CEO. Among his biggest success stories: Avril Lavigne, Pink and Ciara.

Past recipients of ASCAP’s honor include T.I., producer (and father to Dupri) Michael Mauldin and Perri “Pebbles” Reid.
