The second anniversary of Prince’s death will be commemorated in grand style at his Paisley Park compound in Minnesota.
“Celebration 2018” will take place April 19-22 at Prince’s sanctuary in Chanhassen, Minn., with a slate of programming including live music, panel discussions and presentations.
Among the performers are longtime friend Sheila E.; fDeluxe (formerly known as The Family, featuring Susannah Melvoin, Eric Leeds, Jellybean Johnson and St. Paul Peterson); and a new supergroup of Paisley Park and New Power Generation musical alumni, who will make their debut at "Celebration 2018."
Prince died on April 21, 2016, from an accidental opioid overdose .
As well, the gathering will offer an off-site event, "Prince: Live on the Big Screen," that will be held April 21 at the Target Center in Minneapolis. The concert – which is included in a "Celebration 2018" ticket – will spotlight previously unreleased audio and video of Prince, accompanied live onstage by an ensemble who performed with him throughout his career.
