Prince’s old pal Madonna will pay tribute to the deceased music legend at the Billboard Music Awards.

No word yet on what, exactly, Madonna will do to honor his memory.

The award show is hosted by Atlanta music stars Ludacris and Ciara and will air live from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas at 8 p.m. May 22 on ABC.

Prince and Madonna dated briefly in the '80s. In the '90s and early 2000s they took swipes at each other in the press and onstage , but in recent years maintained a casual business friendship.

In October, Rolling Stone reported that Madonna and her entourage attended a jam session at Prince's Paisley Park compound where the "Purple Rain" maestro played a late-night show with his backing band, 3rd Eye Girl.

The investigation into Prince's sudden death on April 21 continues. On Tuesday, a search warrant and police affidavit found that Minnesota doctor Michael T. Schulenberg saw Prince on April 7, the day he canceled his first scheduled concerts in Atlanta , and again the day before he died.

Dr. Schulenberg had performed tests and prescribed medication for an undisclosed ailment during Prince’s two visits and went to his home on April 21 to present him with the test results. The doctor arrived at the musician’s compound to discover he had just been pronounced dead.
