Indigo Girls fans will see some familiar faces on “Transparent,” the groundbreaking Amazon series that unveiled its second season a couple of weeks ago.
Amy Ray and Emily Saliers were invited by show creator Jill Soloway to play themselves in the ninth episode of the new season, “Man on the Land.”
On the show, the Indigo Girls perform their 1990 fan favorite, “Hammer and a Nail,” at the fictional Idyllwild Wimmin’s Music Festival, which Maura Pfefferman, the show’s transgender main character played by Jeffrey Tambor, attends with her two daughters.
Ray recently spoke to Slate.com about the experience.
“I love the show and just felt it would be fun to do. We didn’t have to act; we just had to be ourselves, which is all I can do,” she said.
The 10-episode second season of "Transparent" is available now on Amazon.
The Indigo Girls, meanwhile, have set a March 4 date with the Atlanta Symphony at Atlanta Symphony Hall.
Last month, Saliers made an appearance at some of Kristian Bush's annual post-Thanksgiving shows at Eddie's Attic and provided a peek at music from her long-awaited upcoming solo album.
