Big Boi wants to “bring a little light” to a group of Atlanta hospice patients and take them to see “Black Panther” on Friday.
The esteemed Atlanta rapper has rented a theater at Stonecrest 16 in Lithonia and will transport about 30 patients at Loving Arms Hospice to view the film.
“I’ve had my father and both my grandmothers go through hospice and I’d want to take them to places they couldn’t go,” Big Boi said Thursday afternoon. “This might be the last movie they get to see. It’s like a little field trip.”
Medical staff will accompany the group, which will travel to the theater in one of Big Boi’s Celebrity Vehicles, from his eight-year-old company, Celebrity Trailers, which supplies luxury trailers to movie sets.
Big Boi and his business partner have grown the company from a boutique venture into a “powerhouse” given the explosion of the Georgia film industry, and he wants the Loving Arms patients to experience the ride in one of the “super plush” vehicles.

Like much of America, Big Boi has already seen “Black Panther,” which was partially filmed in Atlanta, and he’s looking forward to watching it again Friday.
“The movie is incredible,” he said. “Just the different layers – the storytelling, the writing, and of course the action. I love seeing the High Museum in there. ATL is thriving, man.”
Big Boi said he has a couple of announcements regarding music coming soon and he also has a role in the remake of “Super Fly,” filming now in Atlanta.
Who will he play?
He laughs. “I can’t say. But it’s an Atlanta role.”
