Ajejandro Escovedo
The alt-country-rock singer-guitarist will be joined by Peter Buck, Scott McCaughey, Kurt Bloch and John Moen for good reason — Buck and McCaughey (of the Minus 5) helped co-write and produce the songs on Escovedo’s latest album, “Burn Something Beautiful,” which he released in October. The album is his first since 2012.

Umphrey’s McGee
Somewhat jam, somewhat prog rock, the Umphrey’s sound is constantly evolving. The sextet will play a mini-residency at the Tabernacle, with a three-night stand to support their latest release, “Zonkey,” an experimental album consisting of mashups of songs from ZZ Top, AC/DC, Nirvana, Beastie Boys and more. Don’t expect to hear the same show twice.

Atlanta fans know the Virginia-based rapper from his Grammy-nominated collaboration with Lil Yachty, the double-platinum single "Broccoli," which will vie for a best rap/sung performance trophy at next month's awards. Others might know him for his debut track, "Cha Cha," or other cuts from his studio debut, "Big Baby D.R.A.M.," released in October.

Tom Chaplin
You might not immediately recognize Chaplin’s name, but you know his voice as the angelic one steering the mellifluous hits of British pop band Keane (“Everybody’s Changing,” “Is It Any Wonder,” “Somewhere Only We Know”). The frontman is releasing his solo debut, “The Wave,” Jan. 13 and launching an intimate 15-city tour with this show in Atlanta.

Mike Doughty
The Soul Coughing founder is touring with his largest band ever — a six-piece collection — and says the show consists mainly of “live remixing.” Expect to hear Soul Coughing throwbacks (the band broke up in 2000) as well as material from Doughty’s prolific solo career, including last year’s “The Heart Watches While the Brain Burns,” his third collaboration with New York hip-hop producer Good Goose.
