FRIDAY

Michelle Shocked

The indie alt-folk rocker is playing a residency at City Winery locations throughout the country this summer with special shows focusing on her 1988 debut, “Short Sharp Shocked.” The album’s cover, a news photo of a squatter arrested in a San Francisco protest, complemented Shocked’s brazen material. Though never a mainstream darling, she did flirt with the Billboard charts with the song “Anchorage” from that fearless debut record.

8 p.m. June 30. $24-$32. City Winery Atlanta, 650 North Ave., Ponce City Market, Atlanta. 404-946-3791, www.citywinery.com/atlanta.

MONDAY

Departure

After a decade together, the Atlanta-based Journey tribute band has solidified its reputation as one of the best in the country. The five members have been together since the inception of Departure (named for Journey’s 1980 album that featured keyboardist Gregg Rolie for the last time), and they crafted a show that replicates the look, sound and feel of the MTV-era supergroup. Fronted by singer Brian Williams, the band regularly produces a two-hour performance stocked with hits, including “Any Way You Want It,” “Faithfully” and “Open Arms.”

8 p.m. July 3. $20-$25. City Winery Atlanta, 650 North Ave., Ponce City Market, Atlanta. 404-946-3791, www.citywinery.com/atlanta.
