SATURDAY
Il Divo
Put the words "a night with" and "Il Divo" together and watch the women swoon. Since 2003, the international quartet of Carlos Marín, Urs Bühler, David Miller and Sébastien Izambard has sold more than 30 million albums of their classical crossover music. Their last release,"Amor & Pasión" came out in 2015, but this tour isn't about the new, but the classic. Said Miller in a statement, "We're bringing it back to the basics and fueling our show with the songs our fans love." Cue the swooning.
8 p.m. Sept. 2. $45-$75. Chastain Park Amphitheatre, 4469 Stella Drive NW, Atlanta. 1-800-745-3000, ticketmaster.com
Shelby Lynne and Allison Moorer
For years, fans of these admirably quirky sisters wished they would merge their talents on a collaborative project. In early August, that finally occurred with the release of "Not Dark Yet," a collection of covers ranging from Nick Cave to Jessie Colter to Kurt Cobain featuring their shared vocals. I n a recent interview with The Atlanta Journal-Constitution , Lynne said that "timing is everything," and that both she and Moorer brought in "a bunch" of songs to eventually whittle down to a 10-song record.
8 p.m. Sept. 2. Sold out (waitlistwait list available). City Winery, 650 North Ave. NE, Atlanta. 404-946-3791, citywinery.com
SUNDAY
Anthony Hamilton
The Charlotte native released his seventh studio album, “What I’m Feelin’,” in 2016, and has made several visits to Atlanta to promote it. Last summer, he and Fantasia played the Fox Theatre before Hamilton returned for a Dec. 30 performance at the same venue. He’s flying solo this time (well, Tank is opening) and bringing his simmering R&B/soul to an outdoor stage.
With Tank. 7 p.m. Sept. 3. $53-$78. Wolf Creek Amphitheater, 3024 Merk Road SW, Atlanta. 1-800-745-3000, ticketmaster.com
MONDAY
Goo Goo Dolls
There is nothing challenging about the Goo Goo Dolls’ earnest pop-rock, but with 30 years of radio presence and their unquestionable road stamina, the band always delivers a show stuffed with familiar songs. You might hear “So Alive” and “Over and Over” from last year’s “Boxes” album, but you are also guaranteed the hit list of “Slide,” “Name,” “Iris,” “Black Balloon” and plenty of other fist-pumpers. Founding members John Rzeznik and Robby Takac have chosen like-minded musical company in opener Phillip Phillips, the Leesburg native who has maintained a steady career since winning “American Idol” in 2012.
With Phillip Phillips. 7:30 p.m. Sept. 4. $25-$65.50. Chastain Park Amphitheatre, 4469 Stella Drive NW, Atlanta. 1-800-745-3000, ticketmaster.com
