FRIDAY
Def Leppard
Even though “Pour Some Sugar on Me” has earned its place in ‘80s glam rock history (as well as in strip clubs around the world), Def Leppard has about 4,328 additional hits and has assembled a fan-friendly set list that revisits more than a dozen of them (“Animal,” “Love Bites,” “Foolin’,” “Rocket,” “Photograph”). The band is also including the fiery “Let’s Go” from last year’s overlooked self-titled album, the 11th of its 35-year career.
With REO Speedwagon. 7 p.m. Aug. 12. $25-$125. Lakewood Amphitheatre, 2002 Lakewood Way, Atlanta. 1-800-745-3000, www.ticketmaster.com.
SATURDAY
Brandy Clark
One of the most astute singer-songwriters in Nashville, Clark earlier this summer released her sophomore album, “Big Day in a Small Town,” which is already earning deserved buzz on many “best of 2016” lists. Clark has said that she’s “a sucker for a good story.” She excels at illuminating those stories with her sly words and rootsy musical backdrops.
With Elise Davis. 6:45 p.m. Aug. 13. $18-$28.50. Terminal West, 887 W. Marietta St. N.W., Atlanta. 404-876-5566, www.terminalwestatl.com.
Train
The San Francisco band might define innocuous pop-rock, but it’s hard to argue that its songs don’t bear the hallmarks of surefire radio hits — they’re catchy (“Drops of Jupiter [Tell Me]”), gloppy (“Marry Me”), soaring (“Calling All Angels”) and inescapable (“Hey, Soul Sister”). While Train has certainly achieved commercial success, singer Pat Monahan truly excels at covering Led Zeppelin songs. Fortunately, the band realized this and in June released “Train Does Led Zeppelin II.”
With Andy Grammer. 7:30 p.m. Aug. 13. $24.50-$99.50. Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre at Encore Park, 2200 Encore Parkway, Alpharetta. 1-800-745-3000, www.ticketmaster.com.
UB40
Technically billed as UB40 featuring Ali Campbell, Astro and Mickey Virtue, the British band known for its fusion of pop and reggae — think of its hit remakes of Neil Diamond’s “Red Red Wine” and Sonny and Cher’s “I Got You Babe” — charted with a staggering 50 singles in its native U.K. The current touring members are all founding UB40 members who have basically formed their own offshoot band.
8 p.m. Aug. 13. $45-$100. Frederick Brown Jr. Amphitheater, 201 McIntosh Trail, Peachtree City. 1-877-725-8849, www.ticketalternative.com.
SUNDAY
Dixie Chicks
Natalie Maines, Martie Erwin Maguire and Emily Erwin Robison recently launched a 40-city summer tour, their first since their short "Long Time Gone" run in 2013. This will be their first performance in Georgia since 2006, and all accounts refer to the trio being welcomed warmly (the Houston Chronicle review also touted their performance as "a marvel of musicianship, chemistry and a fierce sense of self."). But Howard Stern fans will want to know: Did Natalie Maines bring "Flat Ronnie" onstage? Check out The Music Scene blog on AJC.com Monday for an answer — and a review.
With Vintage Trouble and Smooth Hound Smith. 7 p.m. Aug. 14. $29.50-$149.50. Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre at Encore Park, 2200 Encore Parkway, Alpharetta. 1-800-745-3000, www.ticketmaster.com.
WEDNESDAY
Von Grey
Atlanta sisters Annika, Fiona, Petra and Kathryn von Grey have conjured a magical musical combination of synthesizers, electronic beats and indie rock, a sound they perfected on their third EP, “Panophobia,” released in 2015. In December, they dropped the haunting single “Behind Your Eyes” featuring Filthy Fidgets and the girls’ gorgeous harmonies.
With Ella Collier and Madison Laughridge. 7:30 p.m. Aug. 17. $10-$15. Eddie’s Attic, 515-B N. McDonough St., Decatur. 1-877-435-9849, www.ticketfly.com.
