FRIDAY

STS9

The Atlanta-rooted band — also known as Sound Tribe Sector 9 — is getting comfortable with these mini-residencies at the Tabernacle to celebrate the end and beginning of a year. Fans still have two opportunities to experience the group’s instrumental electronic-funk-jazz-hip-hop.

8 p.m. Jan. 1 with the Werks. 8 p.m. Jan. 2 with Jaw Gems. $39.50. The Tabernacle, 152 Luckie St., Atlanta. 1-800-745-3000, livenation.com.

Perpetual Groove

The Athens-based band is beloved for its inability to stick to one genre. Its music fuses jazz-rock, electronica, R&B and big, hooky rock. But, along with its eclectic original sound, the group also is known for spunky covers, ranging from Michael Jackson to Rage Against the Machine.

9:30 p.m. Jan. 1 with Dank. 9:30 p.m. Jan. 2 with Kenosha Kid. $25-$28. 18 and older only. Terminal West, 887 W. Marietta St. N.W., Atlanta. 404-876-5566, terminalwestatl.com.

The Gibson Brothers

Eric and Leigh Gibson have been racking up awards since the late ’90s, when the International Bluegrass Music Association proclaimed them emerging artist of the year. Since then, the duo regularly has toured Europe and made a couple of appearances on Garrison Keillor’s “Prairie Home Companion” show. In 2013, the brothers Gibson were voted entertainers of the year at the IBMA World of Bluegrass 24th annual awards in Raleigh. Clearly, there are reasons to hear them perform live.

7 p.m. Jan. 1. $25-$32. Eddie's Attic, 515-B N. McDonough St., Decatur. 1-877-435-9849, ticketfly.com.

SATURDAY

Delbert McClinton

The Texas roots rocker has been kicking around since the ’60s and has crossed over the rock, country and pop charts throughout his steady career. While he’s best known commercially for his 1992 duet with Tanya Tucker, “Tell Me About It,” and his 1980 hit “Giving It Up for Your Love,” McClinton is more renowned as a rock solid songwriter — so much so that the Texas Heritage Songwriters Hall of Fame inducted him in 2011.

8 p.m. Jan. 2. $32 (advance), $35 (day of the show). Variety Playhouse, 1099 Euclid Ave. N.E., Atlanta. 404-524-7354, ticketmaster.com.

THURSDAY

Chris Stapleton

What a year for the hirsute Kentucky native. After years of writing hits for country luminaries such as Kenny Chesney and Tim McGraw, Stapleton released his solo debut, “Traveller,” in May. Industry acclaim was quick, but it wasn’t until a breakout at the November Country Music Association Awards that the soft-spoken musician was truly introduced to the world. His four Grammy nominations — including a prestigious album of the year nod — assure that Stapleton isn’t going away anytime soon. How lucky for us.

With Sam Lewis. 8:30 p.m. Jan. 7-8. $30. The Tabernacle, 152 Luckie St., Atlanta. 1-800-745-3000, livenation.com.
