Adele, Elton John confirm details of respective new albums

Well, she didn’t pull a Beyonce.
Speculation that Adele would follow the lead of other high-profile artists and drop a new album with zero notice was quashed Thursday morning with the news that her long-awaited “25” album will arrive Nov. 20.
Adele teased fans over the weekend when a snippet of a new song played as a commercial during an airing of “The X Factor” in England.
But she’ll stick to a traditional route and release the single “Hello” on Oct. 23. An accompanying video, shot in the Montreal countryside, will also debut Friday.
In announcing the new release, Adele said, “My last record was a break-up record and if I had to label this one, I would call it a make-up record. I’m making up with myself, making up for lost time, making up for everything I ever did and never did.”
One-time Atlantan and near-UGA album Danger Mouse has been long-rumored as one of the producers of Adele’s new material.
Here is the tracklist for “25”:

Happy Elton is back! In other new album news, sometime-Atlanta resident Elton John has announced a new release – his 33rd. “Wonderful Crazy Night” will arrive on Feb. 6. The upbeat first single, “Looking Up,” will be available for pre-order Oct. 23. The album was produced by John and T-Bone Burnett, who steered 2013’s “The Diving Board” album. John fans will be pleased to hear that the singer-pianist has again paired with lyricist Bernie Taupin, who co-wrote the album’s 10 tracks. Taupin and John share a 48-year musical partnership, which is rather unbelievable in this changing musical climate. John has also enlisted his veteran drummer, Nigel Olsson, and guitarist Davey Johnstone for the record – the first time they’ve appeared on one since 2006. Five tracks spotlight “time-honored associate” Ray Cooper on percussion. John’s studio band also includes bassist Matt Bissonette, keyboardist Kim Bullard and percussionist John Mahon. On Wednesday, John announced a new set of dates in January and April for his ongoing residency at Caesars Palace ( check them out here. ) The indefatigable performer brought his best stuff to his headlining gig at Music Midtown last month ; a new album suggests that he’ll be back on the road in 2016. |
