The bad spell in the weather seems to have broken, the sun is shining and I'm in the mood for a little uptempo segue into the weekend. So here's the great Billy Joe Shaver with a blistering version of his "I've Been to Georgia on a Fast Train," featuring guitar work by his late son Eddy, who sadly fell prey to a heroin addiction.

If you know Shaver's story, the song is pretty autobiographical, although I'm extremely dubious that he ever rode a fast train to Georgia and given our state Legislature, even more doubtful that he will have a chance to do so in the future.
