True Story Brands, the restaurant group behind 10 Degrees South, Yebo Beach Haus and Biltong Bar, will launch an initiative called Frontline Dine with funding from the Spanx by Sara Blakely Foundation. Through Frontline Dine, the restaurant group plans to deliver 2,500 meals per week to hospital workers at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta.
The collaboration between True Story Brands and the Spanx by Sara Blakely Foundation stems from the longtime friendship between the two organizations’ founders. Justin Anthony, who started True Story Brands, and billionaire Spanx founder Sara Blakely, along with her husband Jesse Itzler, see the initiative as a way to help two communities disproportionately affected by the coronavirus pandemic: restaurant workers and hospital personnel. The initiative will purchase 2,500 meals per week from True Story Brands and distribute them to three different CHOA campuses: Scottish Rite, Egleston and Hughes Spalding. Frontline dine will serve CHOA for two weeks to start, with hopes to continue further.
“Now more than ever, it's important to do our part to help the community and we’re so proud to announce this initiative in collaboration with the Spanx by Sara Blakely Foundation,” said Anthony in a prepared statement. “Not only will it help those on the frontlines battling COVID-19, but this will help provide work for True Story staff who have been temporarily furloughed because of the pandemic.”
Frontline Dine meals will be prepared at the Buckhead location of Biltong Bar from a menu featuring traditional South African dishes like savory and sweet curry with chicken or beef and peri peri chicken. The menu has been designed for convivial, family-style dining in the South African style while providing the heartiness and nutrition for healthcare workers putting in long hours fighting the pandemic.
The initiative is even more personal for Anthony and his family after his young cousin was diagnosed with COVID-19 in March. Her severe case was treated at the staff at CHOA Scottish Rite, and their care helped inspire the creation of Frontline Dine. Anthony's cousin is now recovering, but her experience informed the response of True Story Brands.
