Organizers of the Atlanta Food & Wine Festival recently announced several new additions to this year's Southern culinary gathering, which takes place June 2-5 . Among the highlights is Vineyard in the City, the first-ever pop-up vineyard in the U.S. Now, more details have been shared about this one-of-a-kind entertainment destination.

The urban vineyard will be located in a green space along 14th Street across from the Four Seasons Hotel in Midtown Atlanta. Nearly four acres of land will be transformed into a lush space filled with trellised grapevines, a wildflower meadow and a variety of shade trees. The space will also hold two bars, a cafe area and two bocce courts.

“The mission throughout the design process was to capture the peaceful, earthy essence of a countryside vineyard, while infusing a few healthy sprigs of sophistication from Midtown,” said Todd Yeager, managing principal of Bellwether Landscape Architects, the Buckhead-based company that designed the vineyard. Installation is already underway for the vineyard, which takes its inspiration from McGuigan Wine’s pop-up vineyard in Dublin, Ireland.

The vineyard will make its debut on Thurs., June 2, serving as a site for the Festival’s masterclasses, evening events, a Sunday brunch and other programs. However, once that culinary fete ends, the space will stay open for community use through June 30, offering live music, free arts programming and other events.

“We’re excited to be the first to do this in the U.S. and to use the Vineyard as a great destination for our Festival guests,” said Elizabeth Feichter, Atlanta Food & Wine Festival co-founder. “But we’re even more delighted that we’ll be able to share the space with the Midtown community.”
