Beginning at 11 a.m. on Saturday and continuing into the next morning, the Porter Beer Bar in Little Five Points celebrates its 10th anniversary with a huge list of rare and one-off beers, including many made especially for the occasion.
And because I’ve always liked it a lot, and it’s been on draft at several Atlanta bars, including Steinbeck’s in Oakhurst, Creature Comforts Modern Comforts — which is definitely on draft at the Porter on Saturday— is this week’s Beer Pick.

Profile
One of my favorites among Creature Comforts’ limited edition beers, Modern Comforts is next to impossible find in cans. But it’s been surprisingly available on draft at several metro Atlanta beer bars, lately.
The collaboration with Modern Times in San Diego is described as a “massively hopped double IPA” with Citra and Mosaic hop pellets, CO2 hop extract, and lupulin powder from YCH Hops.
The result is a not too hazy pale orange brew, with a billowy off-white head, and a punch of citrus aromas and flavors. Notes of ripe berries, mango, and a subtle earthy funk give way to a soft bitterness.
Pair with
I recently enjoyed Modern Comforts with a panoply of Mexican cantina-style dishes, including chicharrones with jalapeño and lime, tostadas with refried black beans and Pine Street chorizo, and pork belly al pastor with pineapple, radish and charred scallion.
