A sandwich shop with a name that might raise some eyebrows is coming to Ponce de Leon Avenue.

Motorboat, from the team behind Bantam Pub in Old Fourth Ward, is set to open in 2019 Eater Atlanta first reported and Bantam Pub shared on its Facebook page.

The eatery, to be located in the former Marco’s Pita space at 752 Ponce de Leon Ave. NE, will be divided into a dive bar space on one side and a sandwich shop deli sandwiches featuring Jewish, New York, Italian and Middle Eastern influences on the other side, Eater reports. The menu will also feature soups, salads and vegetarian and vegan options.

Motorboat will feature a rooftop deck overlooking Ponce. As far as the name, a representative for the restaurant said it gives a nod to “the affluence of time” because, “most people riding a motorboat on the ocean are rich in time.”

Owners Tim Lance and Richard Baum are also working on opening Big Game sports bar in Old Fourth Ward, which promises on its Facebook page to be open no later than February.

The AJC has reached out for more details.
