In a baseball challenge at Boston's Fenway Park, Atlanta chef Ron Eyester lost his bid to continue his "Top Chef" journey in last night's Season 12 episode of the Bravo show.
Unfortunately, Eyester pitched a baseball-sized fish croquette into a bowl of popcorn soup. Tom Colicchio, Richard Blais, Hugh Acheson and the other judges, who were disappointed by dishes from several other chefs, were most disappointed with Ron’s less than fine dining dish, and sent him packing his knives.
The ending was clearly emotional for Eyester, who is the chef/owner of Rosebud, the Family Dog and Timone’s in Morningside, and Diner, which is set to open at Atlantic Station soon.
But later, in the "After the Knife With Richard Blais" online interview segment, Eyester appears calm and composed, showing little of his "Angry Chef" side — though he does joke, "I'm angry at Hugh."
For his part, Blais offers a bit of cheerleading, saying he’s been to Eyester’s restaurants and enjoyed them. And signs off saying, “At the end of the day, it’s just food.”
