A new spot for Italian is now open in Duluth.

Piatto Fresh Kitchen opened last week at 3140 Main St. in the former Huthmaker Violin location and just a few doors down from the newly-opened O4W Pizza .

Piatto’s menu will feature “healthy and fresh Italian food,” according to owner Raj Mittal, whose wife, Anu, is a co-owner. Mittal said there will be a focus on locally-sourced ingredients and homemade sauces and dressings.

Menu items for lunch and dinner include appetizers such as bruschetta and white bean hummus; salads; wood oven pizzas; dinner entrees and specialties including chicken and veal parmigiana and grilled salmon; and pastas and risottos.

The restaurant will also serve weekend breakfast and brunch offering omelets, breakfast sandwiches and other breakfast entrees.

The space features a bar on the first floor and restaurant seating — including outdoor seating — on the top, as well as a kids’ play area.

Morley Anderson, previously a chef at Ritz-Carlton Atlanta and Villa Christina, will serve as the chef at Piatto. This is the first metro Atlanta restaurant for the Mittals, who previously owned restaurants in Sydney, Australia and Singapore.
