Gwinnett County has a new place for tacos, enchiladas and other Mexican staples.

Pueblo Maya opened at 33 Buford Village Way in the Buford Village mixed-use development last week.

The restaurant serves "fresh-made Mexican food with a modern flair" according to general manager Carlos Diaz, with a menu featuring dishes including chilaquiles, Enchiladas Isla Mujeres -- enchiladas filled with shrimp and fish cooked with pico de gallo and topped with jalapeño cheese dip and ranchero salsa, lettuce and tomato -- and a variety of burritos, tacos, fajitas and vegetarian options as well as dessert items including flan and sopapilla.

The drink menu offers more than 20 tequilas, a variety of margaritas, Mexican Sangria and cocktails.

Look for daily lunch specials as well as drink specials, live music and trivia.

The 4,500 square-foot space features a large bar and an outdoor patio, as well as a private dining room for special events.

Pueblo Maya will have a ribbon cutting at 11 a.m. Feb. 8 followed by a Grand Opening Fiesta starting at 6:30 p.m. with a Mariachi band, food specials and discounts.

The restaurant is open from 11 a.m.-9 p.m. Monday-Thursday, 11 a.m.-10 p.m. Friday and noon-10 p.m. Saturday.
