New Restaurants to look for on Buford Highway

Over the past month, Buford Highway has seen a wave of unique restaurant openings. From Thai to Malaysian, a number of new restaurants have brought their own touch of flavor to Buford Highway.

Full of trendy food and drink items, Mist Snack Dessert bar is the creation of co-owner Lilly Zhao, who also co-owns Mini Hot Pot Deluxe next door. Located in the Orient Center on 4897 Buford Hwy NE in Chamblee, Mist has creative items, such as, pizza cones, poke bowls, and light bulb tea that is served in a light bulb.

Matcha and bubble tea is everywhere and at Boba Bee these drink creations are made with organic and natural ingredients. Diners can create their own hot or cold drink creations along with customizable Hong Kong egg waffles. The airy and bright space is a relaxing place to meet up with friends or surfing on your laptop.

Monsoon Masala Kitchen & Sweets offers a menu of classic Indian dishes with a Bangladeshi influence. Diners will be treated to a variety of tikka masalas and tandooris as well as shrimp malai curry and haleem. The sweet side of the restaurant includes gulab jamon, made with rose water and milk and kheer, a homemade rice pudding, as well as pre-packaged desserts.

Created from the owners of Sweet Hut, Food Terminal offers an expansive offering of Malaysian and Asian street food. The menu is so expansive that they made it into a magazine. Food lovers will be able to taste everything from tossed noodles, spiced curry, chicken wings prepared with a salted egg yolk sauce, and dessert as well. The restaurant is open for lunch, dinner and late-night drinks from 11 a.m.-midnight.

What began as a food cart in New York 27 years ago, The Halal Guys have grown into an international franchise. The chain opened its first Atlanta location earlier this year. Dishes at the restaurant include Middle Eastern-spiced pita sandwiches and platters served over rice and topped with a secret white sauce that people cannot get enough of.
