Mellow Mushroom coming back to Decatur this year

An old favorite is coming to downtown Decatur.

Mellow Mushroom will open at 340 W. Ponce de Leon Ave. in December. A previous Decatur location in the Commerce Square shopping center closed in 2014 after 15 years in business.

The new location is roughly 3,000 square feet, slightly larger than the previous restaurant, though with a much larger outdoor patio layout.

The Atlanta-based chain was started 42 years ago by two Georgia Tech students and now has more than 150 locations across the country.
