If you were a fan of Communion, the beer garden situated behind Kevin Gillespie's Decatur restaurant Revival , we have some bad news.

Starting this week, the space -- which opened with a German theme in April 2016 and flipped to the Mexican-themed Communion Cantina at the same time this year -- will serve as a special event venue only.

According to Gillespie, an increased demand for parties at the outdoor space coupled with this summer’s unpredictable weather frequently caused the restaurant to be closed to the public.

"By transitioning to private events, Communion can maximize use of the space and alleviate disappointing guests who could not depend on a set schedule," according to a prepared statement.

Gillespie will continue to host pop-ups of his Terminus City BBQ in the space.
