Chef Brian Carson will introduce an expanded menu for both Barleygarden locations that will feature “a variety of elevated bar food classics,” according to a press release, as well as menu items from Boxcar, Hop City’s other sister restaurant located in the West End neighborhood.
Look for appetizers including loaded pork skins with blue cheese crumble dressing and Springer Mountain Chicken Wing; sandwiches including Boxcar’s Vagabond and Barleygarden’s Butcher’s Bun; a build-your-own burger section with four different patty choices; main courses including fish and chips and vegan meatloaf; and soups and salads. The menu will also incorporate a kid-friendly section with options including grilled cheese, hot dogs and hamburgers.
Carson previously managed the kitchen at Boxcar and also previously worked at metro Atlanta restaurants including Gunshow, The Pig & The Pearl and The Pinewood.
Hop City and Barleygarden will follow all CDC guidelines while adhering to additional internal safety protocols. Groups are limited to no more than 10 people per table and no more than two people per six feet at the bar. In addition, all customers are required to wear masks when entering or moving about the building. The restaurant will also provide hand sanitizer stations throughout guest and work spaces and touchless QR code menus at each table.
“Our paramount concern is the safety and health of our staff and customers,” Torres said in a prepared statement. “We are taking every possible precaution to assure we are confidently opening our doors to an environment the community feels comfortable to enjoy.”
Hop City Craft Beer & Wine will be open from 11 a.m.-10 p.m. Sunday – Thursday and 11 a.m.-midnight Friday – Saturday. Barleygarden Kitchen & Craft Bar will initially open for dinner service daily from 3 – 10 p.m. with plans to open for lunch service at the beginning of August.
Pinewood Forest, a master planned residential and mixed-use development, comes from a team that includes Fayetteville native and Chick-fil-A CEO Dan T. Cathy.
Several other concepts will join Hop City and Barleygarden in Pinewood Forest’s 25-acre town center, which will also feature a hotel, other restaurants, independent retail shops and galleries, an office suite and a Piedmont Wellness Center.
Forthcoming Pinewood Forest restaurants include Braise, from husband and wife chefs Tanya Jiminez and Michael Le, which will serve a menu of dishes with European, New American, Asian and Southern influences; a yet-to-be-named bakery and cafe from the team behind Stone Mountain's Apple-Butter Bakery and Custom Cake Shoppe; Pancake Social; and Honeysuckle Gelato.
