I guess I'm not the only 50-something "Mad Men" watcher who has been following the Burger Chef account storyline this season and thought, "Burger Chef.....I vaguely remember Burger Chef...." Something deep in my hippocampus recalls sorting Burger Chef and Burger King. I think my family preferred Burger Chef, and when it closed our business went to McDonald's.

Anyhow, if you recall the double-decker Big Shef burger with great fondness, then hie thee to Indianapolis, where

where the light still burns. After opening more than 1000 units nationally, General Foods Corporation sold Burger Chef to Hardee's in 1982. The last unit was converted in 1996.

I'm guessing the two Atlanta-area Hardee's have no plans to offer the burger to "Mad Men" enthusiasts.
