For those who are mourning the announcement that Marietta's Mountain Biscuits is relocating , there's some good news.

Jim Tidwell, the owner of eatery The Marietta Local, confirmed to What Now Atlanta that he is opening a new concept in the Mountain Biscuits space at 1718 Old 41 Hwy NW.

Basecamp at Kennesaw Mountain will continue to offer biscuits, as well as a variety of pancakes, including one made with Genesis Stout chocolate sauce and Brennan's Irish cream topping, and breakfast skillets. For lunch, look for options including a veggie burger, pulled pork sandwich, beef burger and po'boy.

The spot will also feature a separate entrance for an area that will serve fresh-pressed juices.

Tidwell said he hopes to open Basecamp in early June.

Mountain Biscuits closed April 28 and will reopen in Dallas, Ga.

In 2022, Georgia Power projected its winter peak electricity demand would grow by about 400 megawatts by 2031. Since then, Georgia has experienced a boom of data centers, which require a large load of electricty to run, and Georgia Power's recent forecast shows peak demand growing by 20 times the 400-megawatt estimate from just three years ago.
