Following the success of the craft beer movement, craft distilling is rapidly coming of age — even in Georgia.

From 6-9 p.m. tonight, Kimball House in Decatur is hosting the launch party for Old Fourth Ward Gin — the first gin made in Atlanta since Prohibition.

In December 2014, Old Fourth Distillery claimed the mantle of the city's first distillery since Prohibition, opening in a storefront on Edgewood Avenue in, where else, the Old Fourth Ward, and releasing O4D Hand Crafted Vodka.

Here's the story I wrote for the AJC about brothers Jeff and Craig Moore, who partnered with friends Gabe Pilato, Justin Gray and Andy DuVall, put up their life savings, and, with the help of a Kickstarter campaign, completed construction on the distillery and tasting room

Beginning at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Brick Store Pub in Decatur is hosting Erik Vonk of Richland Rum and Brian "Spike" Bukowski of Terrapin Beer Co. for the release of their distillery/brewery collaboration Richland Reserve Double India Pale Ale .

The first of Terrapin’s Ales from the Wood series, the beer is 2014 vintage Hopzilla aged for over a year in Richland Rum barrels.
