Former St. Cecilia chef to open restaurant in Alpharetta next year

Alpharetta is set to get an eclectic neighborhood restaurant from a chef with stints at popular Atlanta restaurants early next year.

Roswell native Taylor Neary will open Restaurant Holmes, "an eclectic neighborhood restaurant and bar" according to a press release, in the Jones House at Alpharetta City Center.

Opening seven days per week, the restaurant will feature an often-changing lunch and dinner menu of salads, small plates and entrees made with local ingredients, with highlights on the dinner menu including dishes such as coal-roasted beets, crudo, pasta and wood-fired fish.

Neary, who will also serve as executive chef, previously worked in the kitchens at Ford Fry restaurants  St. Cecilia and Marcel , as well as Stoney River Grill, Buckhead Life Group's Kyma, Roux on Canton, Little Alley Steak and Opulent.

Built in 1915, the Jones House is a historic building and former residence preserved by Alpharetta City Center. The 60-seat restaurant -- which will also feature a covered porch and patio -- will boast leather banquettes, dark tile, and design features including murals by local artist Greg Mike . There will also be a semi-private room off the main dining room for special events.

City Center is being developed on 26 acres assembled by the city in the area south of Academy Street and east of South Main Street.

Projects completed to date include a new City Hall, new Fulton County library, 5-acre park and 445-space parking deck. Voysey by Hedgewood Homes, with 42 single-family homes, is under way nearby.
